Description
The Z50 is one of the smallest mirrorless cameras, while still offering amazing features. It's the first time Nikon paired an unstabilized APS-C sensor with its new Z lens mount.  It's s a compact entry level camera that produces high quality dynamic range.
Similar cameras to consider: Fujifilm X-T30 II, Sony a6400, Olympus OM-D E-M5 III.
Pros:
- Able to take pictures while recording movies
- Good image and video quality
- Ergonomically comfortable with a grip and well placed buttons and dials
- Small and compact
- Seems more rugged than other competitor's "small" cameras.
- Allows for lots of user customization
- Image and video quality are good
- Can do simple video editing (trimming) in camera.
- Easy to save different camera settings for photo vs video
- Can shoot remotely with the SnapBridge app
Cons:
- Since the monitor flips down for selfie mode, you're not able to view the monitor from in front of the camera if using a tripod.
- Electronic vibration reduction is for movie mode only.
- No in body image stabilization
- Not a huge variety of native lens choices yet
- Battery life could be better
- Autofocusing could be faster
- No in-built automatic sensor cleaning
- Difficult to purchase spare batteries
- Flip screen only flips down which means you can't face it down when the camera is on a tripod.
- 29 min 59 sec max continuous movie recording time.
- Can't use the touchpad to control the AF point while using the viewfinder
