Description

The Sony a6400's claim to fame is at the time of its release, it had the world's fastest auto focus at .02 seconds with real time autofocus and object tracking.

Compared to it's predecessor, the a6300, the a6400 also has an upgraded menu system and has less risk of overheating while shooting 4K video.

The a6400 can be used as a webcam when utilizing the Imaging Edge Webcam application.

Similar cameras to consider: Fujifilm X-T30 II or the Panasonic Lumix DC-GX9.

Pros:

  • The max continuous video record time is 13 hours instead of the common 29 minutes and 59. However, the camera might overheat and shut off before it reaches the 13 hour limit.
  • Real time autofocus tracking is a plus
  • Can use the touchscreen to reposition the focus point when using the viewfinder.

Cons:

  • Can't use touchscreen to interact with the menus
  • Not many dials for quick and direct camera setting controls
  • Rolling shutter can be bad in video
  • The a6400 only has a slower UHS-1 card slot so the camera may have slower buffering times.
